2022 READ-A-THON FUNDRAISER!

NOVEMBER 14th - NOVEMBER 28th, 2022

WHAT IS THE READ-A-THON?

The Read-A-Thon is a fundraiser that challenges students to use their most important academic skill, READING, to directly support our school. The money raised goes to sustain our PFC-funded initiatives such as grade-level aides, reading and math specialists, science aides, art awareness and vocal music.


HOW DOES THE READ-A-THON WORK?

  • Students set a reading goal (hours or minutes/day) for the 15-day reading period, Monday, November 14th - Monday, November 28th.

  • Students solicit sponsors to support their goal via online fundraising or cash/check.

  • Students and parents record pledges on the Read-A-Thon envelope and log minutes read on the back on the envelope (2nd through 5th graders may include minutes reading to a younger sibling, and TK through 1st graders may include minutes they are read to by older sibling, parent, etc.)

  • Students return their envelopes with pledges enclosed to school between Tuesday, November 29th and Friday, December 2nd.

** Reading Log must be legibly recorded each day, and initialed by a parent.**


HOW DO I COLLECT DONATIONS?

1.) Donate online via 99pledges.com. You will receive an email from 99pledges.com containing a link to your child’s personal fundraising page. You can also access your child's page by going to our school's main fundraising page at https://app.99pledges.com/fund/WalnutAcresRead2022.

2) Collect donations in person. All cash/checks should be turned in together with your child’s Read-A-Thon envelope at the end of the fundraiser. Checks should be made payable to Walnut Acres PFC with your child’s name and teacher in the memo line.


HOW DO I EARN PRIZES?

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

      • Most Minutes Read (top reader from each class).

      • Most Money Raised (top fundraiser from each grade).

      • Top Fundraising Class in each grade category (TK-!), (2-3), (4-5), (SDC).

Winners will be announced and individual prizes will be awarded Monday, December 12th - Friday, December 16th. Class prizes will be awarded after winter break.
