Enrollment is Now Open! After School Enrichment Program Fall 2018

Walnut Acres Enrichment is proud to announce the fall line-up of after school classes. Registration opens today, September 11th, and classes begin starting September 17th.

Classes this fall include: Black Dragon Chess, DodgeBall, Hoops, Instrumental Music for 4th & 5th Graders, Legos: Ticket to Ride from Bricks 4 Kidz, and Toyology by Sarah’s Science. Coming Soon: School Photos by iClickSmiles

We are excited to announce that iClickSmiles Photography will be taking fall photos at Walnut Acres in two weeks!

Photos will be taken on: Tuesday September 25th

and Wednesday September 26th

There are no envelopes to fill out prior to photo day, and all students will be photographed for free. You will be able to view and order photos online about 10 days after pictures are taken. More details will be available next week.

Please mark your calendar now so photo day doesn’t sneak up on you, and visit the IClickSmiles website for tips for a successful photo day.

"Father Fridays" Needs Drive Thru Volunteers

Calling all dads! Friday morning car line, "Father Fridays", is run by WAE dads from any grade level. Help greet students and open car doors as they are dropped off to school on the last day of the week! It's a short commitment from 7:40 - 8:00 am on Fridays!

Give yourselves a pat on the back! Drive Thru has been running smoothly in the mornings! Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping out and to all of our drivers who are all being respectful and following the guidelines! Keep up the good work keeping our students safe and making this a great way to start the day.

Fifth Grade Parents! September is Your Month to Host the Drive-Thru!

5th Grade parents! We still need a few volunteers for the rest of the month of September! Sign up on Konstella to greet students who use the Drive Thru feature in the mornings from 7:40 - 8:00 am. CLICK HEREfor 5th Grade Drive Thru sign ups.

Parent School Volunteer Requirements

For the safety of our children, all school volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a TB test. Please visit www.bit.ly/MDUSDVolunteers for more information.

  1. You must have completed a TB test that is less than 60 days old or have a TB test less than 4 years old on file with MDUSD. If you require a new or updated TB test, contact your physician or see the MDUSD website for partner labs here). Remember to plan for the 48 hour test reading requirement (you must return to the lab within 24 hours for the test reading).

  2. You must have fingerprints on file with MDUSD - please click here for details of how to schedule with MDUSD or for their requirements to use outside fingerprint vendors.

If you are unclear of your fingerprinting or TB status, please check in with the Walnut Acres office.

We Need YOU on Community Service Day

Join us on Saturday, Oct. 13 and help make our Community Service Day project a success!

From 9 am-12 pm, we will be working on three main projects around the campus: landscape clean up; painting outdoors; and clean up library books. We can use many hands, so invite your friends and neighbors too. For a list of projects and online registration, visit www.walnut-creek.org.

Join us at Heather Farm Community Center at 7:30 a.m. for a free pancake breakfast, cooked by our local Lions clubs. If you come to the breakfast, you get a free, commemorative t-shirt, too!

Host a Kid or Parent Buy-In Party - Help Raise Funds for the PFC!

Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in hosting a Buy-in Party at Jaguar Day. We are still in need of more party hosts, especially for kid grade level parties. Hosting a kid or parent buy-in party is a great way to get involved and help raise much-needed funds for many of the wonderful extra programs offered at Walnut Acres Elementary.

Walnut Acres Cub Scouts Pack 210 Parent Informational Night

Interested in Cub Scouts? Cub Scouts is open to boys and girls of all grade levels, K - 5th. Walnut Acres' Pack 210 will be hosting a parent informational night on Monday, September 17th at the Ygnacio Valley Library from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the back meeting room. Come hear from our leaders about scouting, what our pack has to offer and get any questions answered. Still interested?
