Walnut Acres STEM and Science Fair

The Walnut Acres STEM and Science Fair invites all students in grades K–5 to explore their curiosity and think like young scientists. Each year, students are encouraged to submit a project in any science or engineering field that interests them—ranging from music and sports to animals, the environment, psychology, computers, rocketry, or food. Through hands-on exploration, students learn to observe, ask questions, and discover the exciting world of science.

Projects are divided into two categories:

Science Experiment
Students begin with a testable question, then conduct experiments to find answers. Projects must focus on one variable to ensure accurate results, following the scientific method from hypothesis to conclusion.

Engineering Design
Students identify a real-world problem and design a solution. These projects highlight creativity, critical thinking, and the application of scientific principles to improve or solve everyday challenges.

Resources
Students can get ideas and guidance from books in the Walnut Acres library or explore online resources like:

Recognition Process
All students who submit a project receive a participation ribbon. For grades 3 through 5, 1st through 3rd place winners will be selected, and Honorable Mentions may also be awarded.

Exact event dates will be shared on Konstella, social media, and the Walnut Acres website.
