Ways to Stay Connected
We want all parents and staff at Walnut Acres to be informed and involved in what is happening at our school.
There are many ways to keep informed. Choose what works for you!

We use an online platform, Konstella (www.konstella.com), as our school directory and private parent community.
The PFC sponsors Kontella, and it provides you with:
A directory of Walnut Acres parents and students
A classroom directory
Important announcements, including our Enews newsletter
A PFC/school event calendar
Sign-Ups for PFC and School Events
Social Groups and Committees
Sales and Donations (Spiritwear, Jaguar Fund, etc)
A private messaging feature
If you do not already have an account:
Go to www.konstella.com, click "Find Your School" in the upper right corner of the page.
Search for Walnut Acres Elementary, select the school and hit Next.
Enter your name, email and child's name.
Pick your child's classroom if you know what it is and click Submit.
The Konstella Administrators will approve your request to join the school and you'll have access to our private parent community!
Konstella Also Offers a Mobile Application: Konstella has Android and iOS applications which parents can use to communicate with other parents, sign-up for activities and see what events are coming up.
Instructions to Join your classroom on Konstella
Konstella Website:
Click on your Name on the bar on the right hand side
Select “Your Children”
Under Classroom, Click on “Join Classroom”
Click on the appropriate Classroom/Teacher Name
Your children and your parent record are now a part of that classroom
Repeat for additional children
Konstella Mobile App:
Click on the Settings Cog Icon in the upper left hand corner/Click on the Messages tab
Click on “Your Children”
Select your child’s name.
Click on “Please select your classroom”
Click on the appropriate Classroom/Teacher Name
Your children and your parent record are now a part of that classroom
Repeat for additional children

Stay up to date on school events and deadlines with our bi-weekly Enews. eNews is sent every other week via Konstella, our communication platform. eNews articles are due the Friday before each release date. A reminder to submit eNews articles is sent to the PFC Board several days before the articles are due.
Article Submission Guidelines:
Please submit articles in this doc and limit words to 150 or less.
Include web addresses and email addresses for more information. Pre-link when possible, or you may include the URL in parentheses.
Any graphics you would like to use should be submitted in a .JPG or .GIF format.
All articles may be slightly altered, and are subject to the approval of the PFC Vice President of Communication.
Articles from individual students about class projects and fundraisers are subject to approval.
Articles that do not directly relate to the Walnut Acres PFC or the school will be added to the Community Announcements section at the end of Enews.

Principal Berglund and the office staff (plus MDUSD) use ParentSquare to communicate with families for general information and emergencies. You will receive emails via ParentSquare even without your own account. The advantage of having your own account is that you can control how you receive communication. You can download the app on your phone and receive communication via text.

The PFC holds General Meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, on Zoom and sometimes also in person. All parents and caregivers of Walnut Acres students are part of the PFC - no additional fees to join! These meetings are a great opportunity to hear what’s going on around campus from the Principal and PFC Exec Team, plus an opportunity to ask questions
