Darcie Jones Book Drive, March

This community service drive was named after Darcie Jones, a Walnut Acres parent who started a book drive in the Spring of 1994 to benefit the summer reading program at Meadow Homes Elementary School in Concord. After she died of cancer on December 31, 1996, the PFC renamed the book drive “The Darcie Jones Book Drive” and planted a tree outside the 3rd grade wing in honor of all that she had contributed to Walnut Acres Elementary School.

Community Service Drives and Events

Toy Drive, December

Every holiday season Walnut Acres reaches out to the larger community with our Annual Toy Drive benefiting Shore Acres Elementary School. We accept donations of gently used toys and clothing, then volunteers (adults and kids!) spend a weekend sorting the donations before delivering the 10+ carloads to Shore Acres Elementary.

Campus Community Service Day, February

During this campus-wide community service day, we organize some projects that can be done to beautify and update our Walnut Acres Campus. A sign up goes out via Konstella on how to participate.
