CURTAINS UP YOUTH THEATRE PROGRAMS

2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR

The Team at Curtains Up Youth Theatre (CUYT) is pleased to present our full list of programs for 2022-23. We are so excited to continue offering an array of musical theatre options: mini-musicals, our popular full-scale winter musical, and our summer theatre camp in 2023. We can’t wait for you to join us – singing, dancing and acting on stage!

Parents, now is the time to review what we are offering in the 2022-23 school year and secure your performer’s spot. Our CUYT Team will be running the programs with Judy Ryken, our Music Director, Frank Ryken, our Choreographer, and Lee Oller, our Drama Director.

Mini Musical Theatre Programs:

‘Go Fish!’ for 2nd and 3rd Grades

September 6 – October 13

‘’Squirm!” for Kindergarten and 1st Grades

April 11 – May 18

Our mini musicals will rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday during the six-week session, from 2:45 to 3:45 pm. The performance will be in the evening, at 7 pm, on the last Thursday of the session. These Mini Musicals will include narration, vocal instruction and choreography as performers tell these high-energy, fun-filled stories.

Full-Scale Musical:

“Alice in Wonderland” - Open to 4th and 5th Graders.

This full-scale musical has been a tradition at Walnut Acres for over 25 years. Group auditions will be November 28-30 (please note all registered students will be cast in the show – auditions are needed to help the directors assign roles). Rehearsals run from early December through early March. Rehearsals are every Tuesday or Thursday, from 2:45 to 5:00 pm. There will be a few other weekdays added in February and March (due to holidays); and full Run-through and Dress Rehearsals will run longer, to around 6 pm. Two performances for each cast will be March 10, 11, 17, and 18.

2023 - Summer Camp Musical

“101 Dalmatians” - Open to students who will have completed grades 3, 4, and 5 in the summer of 2023: Camp meets Monday – Friday, June 5 – 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Camp ends with two, full-scale musical performances on June 23 & 24.
