“We are what we are because of the hard work, insights and achievements of countless others.” -Karen Armstong

Thank you for your ongoing support to Walnut Acres and the PFC!

October was a fun filled month at Walnut Acres and the PFC has been busy.  Over the past several weeks, we’ve had parent volunteers in charge of Jaguar Fund, the Student Directory, Gift Wrap, Book Fair, Carnival and Red Ribbon Week and continue to work hard planning many of our upcoming events.

The Walnut Acres Children’s Theater presents “Disney’s 101 Dalmations Kids”, a 1st-4th grade musical production on November 8th and 9th at 7pm.  Come support our young and talented actors!

ARRGH, we be calling your little readers!  The Read-a-thon begins on November 3 and extends through Thanksgiving break.  You’ll find information in the packets sent home with your child on Friday, November 1.  This is a wonderful opportunity to slow down during this busy holiday season and take time to read with your budding readers.

We hope we haven’t overwhelmed you with our fundraisers and community events.  The PFC has scheduled a number of smaller fundraisers and events that may offer something for every family.  Thank you to all who participated in the Gift Wrap fundraiser and Book Fair.

Currently, the Jaguar Fund participation level is at 70% and is well on it’s way to our goal of 100%.  It’s not too late to contribute! Donations and corporate matches are accepted all year and any amount is appreciated.

Tis the season to begin holiday shopping!  Please check the Shop and Earn for School link on the PFC website for participating online vendors. A simple click on the vendor’s logo will forward you to their page and a small percentage of your online purchase will be donated to the Walnut Acres PFC.  It’s easy and free money to Walnut Acres. Happy shopping!

In our October PFC meeting we had Kim Harris, acting president of PEAK, share more about their program and encourage families to participate in their largest fundraiser, The Turkey Trot on November 28th.  More information can be found on the PEAK link under Community Announcements of our PFC website. Let’s show them our support!

You’re invited to our next PFC meeting on Tuesday, November 13 at 7pm.  We always hope for a full house! This is a great opportunity to listen and ask questions and  all parents at every grade level are welcome to attend.  Be informed, be active and be your child’s biggest fan!

Save the date for our Walnut Acres Holiday Party on December 3rd!  All Walnut Acres parents, teachers and staff are invited and encouraged to bring a treat to share.  Please check the PFC website and enews for more information on these and other current events.

Cheers and best wishes to you and your family for safe and happy memories this holiday season!

With appreciation,

Monica Chang
