Dear Walnut Acres Families,

The end of the school year is always a great time to reflect on all the wonderful programs and activities we hosted throughout the year. Our fundraisers and activities are successful for the simple reason that the Walnut Acres community is filled with wonderful parents who generously share their time and talent in so many ways.

I’d like to take a moment to thank the 2014-15 Executive Board members who worked hard to manage our PFC programs, the website, activities and most importantly the budget. Special thanks to Stacie Morris, Jana Corral, Michele Piteck, Kathy Ringot and Erin Roeder who have served as an invaluable part of the executive board for the past 2 years.  I also want to thank Dr. Dowd for the endless commitment and academic vision she shares tirelessly with Walnut Acres.

Thank you to ALL families who supported our annual education fund, “Jaguar Fund”, and participated in the PFC fundraisers such as the annual auction, directory advertising, gift-wrap, read-a-thon, the golf tournament, and eScrip & box tops for education, all of which are an essential part of our budget. The PEAK program generously donated a check in the amount of  $5,800.00 to provide additional support of our programs.

It is with these collective efforts that the PFC is able to provide Walnut Acres all of the staff support and enrichment activities and programs we want for our children.

The last PFC meeting for this school year is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th at 7pm in the school library.  At this meeting, we will review the proposed 2015-16 PFC budget, calendar, board slate.  Come share your voice and your vote!

Please join us for a warmhearted farewell to Mrs. Bangs as she retires from teaching at Walnut Acres on Tuesday, June 9th at 2:45 in the school library. We wish her all the best on her new endeavors.

Walnut Acres is an extraordinary community and it has been a privilege to hold the position of president these past two years. As I pass the position of president to Cherise Khaund, I am confident her leadership skills and resourcefulness will be a wonderful addition to the PFC.

Cheers for continued success in the 2015-16 school year!

Sincerely, Monica Chang

2014-15 PFC President
